Different Types of Pallets and Their Applications 

Pallets are important as far as packaging is concerned, and are important logistics equipment. It is nothing but a portable rigid flat platform which can carry the load. They are used to pile up, store .assemble or transportation of goods. They play a very important role in increasing the operational efficiency of warehouses by letting the easy movement of stacked goods with the help of machines and tools such as forklifts and pallet jacks. Different types of pallets are used for various purposes. 

Pallets are of different types in terms of material there are wooden pallets, plastic pallets and metal pallets. Also, there are reusable or expendable pallets; they are assembled in different ways like reversible, stackable and so on. There are New Custom Pallets which are customized according to the demand as well as recycled pallets as well; new custom pallets are very much in demand as every user has different uses. New custom pallets are the most popular pallets and are always in demand. Each pallet has a unique application depending on its qualities. 

TYPES BASED ON MATERIAL 

Well based on material pallets are broadly three types, which are plastic, wood and metal. Now each material has its benefits as well as limitations. 

BASED ON CONFIGURATION

1. BLOCK OR DECK BOARD PALLETS: They can be lifted from all four corners which is an advantage, the upper deck is supported by twelve columns whereas the bottom deck is found in a few and few do not have a bottom deck, this is up to the manufacturer. Wooden Pallet Manufacturer has their distinct designs of making the same type of pallet. They provide high handling efficiency. Usually made of wood but can be made from plastic and metal. 
2. STRINGER PALLETS: In comparison to block pallets they offer extra support comparison block pallets, two boards running between the top and bottom deck on opposite ends of the pallets. They can be lifted from two sides, there are stringer pallets that can be lifted from four sides which have a notch cut allowing forklifts to pick up the pallet. 
3. DOUBLE WING PALLETS: IN this pallet top and bottom deck extend beyond the stringers to offer additional surface area. 
4. SOLID DECK PALLETS: It has a single continuous sheet usually made of wood but metal or plastic ones are also available, they are easy to clean. 
5. DOUBLE FACE PALLETS: While generally, pallets have only had a top deck, it has a top as well as a bottom deck. They are used for heavy lifts and are strong. Wooden pallet manufacturersusually don’t make this pallet unless there is specific demand. 
6. ROTO MOLDED PALLETS: So far we have talked about pallets which are usually made of wood but this pallet is made of thermoplastic and made by using a rotational moulding method. They are economical and available in standard sizes only.
7. INJECTION MOLDED PALLETS: These pallets are also made of thermoplastics, mainly used to lift goods during transportation and are easily movable by forklifts, loaders or jacks. They are washable. Corrosion free. 

We have talked about various types of pallets but out of all these pallets, wooden pallets are more in demand and are much more popular as well. Wooden pallets are mainly of two types new and recycled, new custom pallets made of wood are the most in-demand as they are customized as per the need and demand.
